Fall is (sometimes) in the Air!

The days still feel like summer, but cooler evenings, shorter days, and pumpkin everything remind us that fall is here! It’s time to get back to familiar routines after summer vacations and activities, do some fall clean up and prep for winter, and just enjoy the coziness of the season!

We had an amazing Summer Reading Program this year–142 kids completed the program, reading 2,994 books, and winning lots of fun prizes! We’re already looking forward to next year’s program–Unearth a Storytm–featuring dinosaurs, paleontology, and archeology!

October 7th brings back our FALL STORYTIME for the little ones. Three- to five-year-olds can enjoy stories, songs, games, and crafts as they learn about OPPOSITES. The program runs every Tuesday from 10:30–11:00 am through Nov. 4.

We’ve been doing some fall clean-up here as we get ready for our upcoming FALL BOOK SALE! The sale will be held Tues. Oct. 21 through Fri. Oct. 31 in the main library building during library hours. A lot of fiction books that haven’t been read in a lot of years will be looking for a new home, AND an era is coming to an end– we have discarded our entire collection of VHS tapes! If you still have a videocassette player, come stock up on movies to get you through the winter (or check out Pinterest for ways to repurpose old tapes!).

The PUZZLE SWAP returned Sept. 30. Come swap out your own puzzles for different ones the last Tuesday of the month from 5:00–7:00 pm at the library. The next swap will be Oct. 28.

Looking for a new read? A few new titles are: Billion Dollar Ransom (James Patterson), The Women of Oak Ridge (Michelle Shocklee), The Amish Widow’s Last Stitch (Tracy Fredrychowski), Once Upon a Christmas Carol (Melody Carlson), We Are All Guilty Here (Karin Slaughter), The Unexpected Journey: finding strength, hope, and yourself on the caregiving path (Emma Heming Willis).

Some new DVD releases include: Lilo & Stitch, Superman, 1923 (season 2), Jurassic World: Rebirth, Elmo’s Happy Halloween Party, How to Train Your Dragon, and many Hallmark movies.

Stop in and see what’s new, check something out, and enjoy a cozy autumn season!
